Service Description
A shipboard pipefitter fabricates, installs, modifies, and repairs a wide variety of high and low-pressure piping systems, such as those for water, steam, and air, aboard naval vessels. Responsibilities include using blueprints to plan and create piping systems, operating machinery like bending and threading machines, performing quality assurance checks, and testing the systems for leaks and functionality. This role requires familiarity with various pipe materials like Copper‑nickel, carbon/stainless, as well as pipe joining techniques like soldering and welding, flanging, silver brazing, and welding support. Also includes hydrostatic testing, installation and alignment of hangers/supports.
