Service Description

The General Maritime Shipyard Safety & Industrial Practices OSHA-10 Maritime Compliance : OSHA 29 CFR 1915/1917/1918. Maritime Standards course provides fundamental awareness training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of workplace hazards specific to the maritime industry. Tailored for entry-level workers, this program covers the standards found in 29 CFR Part 1915 for shipyard employment, which includes shipbuilding, ship repair, and shipbreaking. The course is designed to ensure workers are more knowledgeable about safety and health risks, promoting compliance with OSHA regulations and fostering a safer work environment. Key topics covered in the OSHA-10 Maritime course focus on the most hazardous areas of the industry and include: Introduction to OSHA: Providing an overview of workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. Confined and Enclosed Spaces: Addressing the dangers and required safety procedures for working in these hazardous atmospheres. Electrical Safety: Covering the proper use and handling of electrical equipment and the risks involved. Fall Protection: Training on identifying and preventing falls from heights, which is a leading cause of injury in maritime operations. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Explaining the proper selection, use, and maintenance of PPE to protect against various hazards. Fire Protection: Detailing fire prevention strategies, fire watch protocols, and appropriate response procedures. Hazard Communication and Hazardous Materials: Educating workers on the safe handling and recognition of dangerous chemicals and materials. Lockout/Tags-Plus: Outlining procedures for controlling hazardous energy during equipment servicing. Walking and Working Surfaces: Focusing on preventing slips, trips, and falls through proper housekeeping and surface maintenance.
